Ferroelectric Nanoisland Array Fabricated by Blockcopolymer Self-Assembly |

PbTiO3 (PTO) nanoisland array was fabricated by a simple method based on block copolymer micelles. PTO precursor was encapsulated within poly(4-vinylpyridine) block of polystyeren-b-poly(4-vinylpyridine) copolymer micelles. The micelle solution was spin-coated on a single crystalline Nb-doped SrTiO3 to form monolayer of micelles. Both block copolymer thin film was removed and PTO islands were epitaxially crystallized under atmospheric environment at 600℃. Epitaxial relationship between the substrate and PTO islands was analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and ferroelectric behavior was observed by piezoresponse force microscopy (PFM). The average diameter and height of each PTO nanoisland are ~30 nm and 6nm, respectively. Each nanoisland exhibited a distinct ferroelectric property with the polarization axis aligned normal to the substrate. |
