Well-defined monodisperse oligofluorenes have attracted interest for their potential applications in various optoelectronic devices such as OLEDs and OTFTs. Oligofluorenes having simple side chains at 9,9’-position show crystallinity, and can exhibit high hole transport ability. However, crystallinity and low molecular weight are not suitable for solution processing such as spin-coating and ink-jet printing. In order to improve solution processing and also to induce new high ordered packed structure, we synthesized bis(tri-oligofluorene) linked with octamethyltetrasiloxane. Optical and phase transition properties for fluorene-siloxane twin systems were characterized using UV/Vis absorption, photoluminescence spectroscopy, DSC, and polarized optical microscope experiments. |
