제목 Evaluation of Stress Crack Resistance of High Density Polyethylene Geomembranes
초록 High density polyethylene (HDPE) geomembrane is impermeability membrane sheet widely used in waste landfills as liner or cover. Slow crack resistance, often estimated by environmental stress crack resistance (ESCR) tests, is an important performance parameter for HDPE geomembrane applied in landfills. In this study we simulated the environmental conditions of landfills and the modified ASTM standard 5397 test method was applied to the HDPE geomembrane. Four types of HDPE GM were used. Modified ASTM standard 5379, the stress cracking properties of HDPE geomembrane were investigated in alkaline water (pH=8) and acidic water (pH=4) solution at 40 and 60°C temperature, respectively. In acidic and alkaline condition HDPE geomembrane performed the same stress crack resistance. Temperature is a very importance factor effect on the stress crack resistance of HDPE geomembrane.
