제목 | Versatile Co-solvent Approach for Hydrophilic Surface Modification of Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) Membrane |
초록 | Poly(tetrafluoroethylene)(PTFE) membrane exhibits excellent chemical and thermal stability, which ishighly desirable in chemical separation processes under harsh operatingconditions. However, the hydrophobicity of PTFE membranes limits its uses inindustrial application. We report a facile co-solvent approach to functionalizeporous PTFE membranes by coating crosslinked poly(vinyl alcohol) (XLPVA) layer(< 20 nm). By using alcohol/water co-solvents, PVA solution penetrated to theinner pore networks of PTFE membrane without pretreatments. The XLPVA-coatedPTFE membranes showed enhanced hydrophilicity with decreasing crosslinking timecompared to other literature. The resulted PTFE membranes were highlywater-permeable without any pretreatment, exhibiting a water flux of ~200LMH/bar with improved micropollutant rejection (~99%). |
