Titania (TiO2) is used as a photocatalyst which changes volatile organic compounds into nontoxic materials such as carbon dioxide and water. It can be mixed with paint to prevent SBS (Sick Building Syndrome). However it is difficult to expose titania to light since it has a poor dispersion in paint. Mica, one of the sheet-structured mineral, can be used as a substrate for materials active in chemical reaction. In this research, titania was deposited on the surface of the mica with water based solution and the quantity of titania deposition on the mica increased by pre-coating of dopamine. |
