On-line monitoring of the ester synthesis conversion in solvent-free media has been performed with computer-aided water activity control. The conversion of esterification reactions can be determined from the amount of water produced by the reaction without any ester analysis. In this work, the amount of produced water was calculated from mass balance equations and the reaction conversion was on-line monitored while water activity was controlled.
