To obtain high brightness, good color purity, and environmentally friendly blue-light-emitting materials for display applications, we synthesized gradient core-to-shell ZnSeS quantum dots (GCS-QDs). We optimized the synthetic methods to construct a ZnSeS core with a diameter of ~ 4.9 nm and a gradient Se:S composition core-to-shell with a ZnSeS and ZnS outer shell. The gradient ZnSeS intermediate shell of the QDs was tunable from violet to deep blue. The final gradient core to shell GCS-QDs had an emission peak at 445 nm, a high quantum yield value of 78 %, and a narrow spectrum width of 12 nm. Moreover, we fabricated QD light-emitting diodes (QD-LEDs) with GCS-QDs as emitters and demonstrated the performance of the deep blue QD-LEDs (i.e., a maximum brightness of 3359 cd/m2, maximum current efficiency of 1.2 cd/A, maximum external efficiency of 3.5 %, full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 19 nm, and CIE of (0.157, 0.045)). |
