Study on thermal and mechanical properties of polyamide12/EPDM thermoplastic elastomers prepared through electron beam irradiation |
초록 |
Polyamide12 (PA12) was melt-blended with ethylene propylene diene rubber (EPDM) at various compositions in the presence of maleated EPDM (mEPDM) as a compatibilizer. The PA12/EPDM blends were further irradiated with e-beam at 0 ~ 100 kGy dosage to endow selective crosslinking between the EPDM chains. The selective crosslinking of EPDM phase improved the mechanical and elastomeric properties of the PA12/EPDM blend, while PA12 phase afforded melt-processibility, affording thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). Thermal and mechanical properties of the PA12/EPDM TPE were investigated by using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and universal testing machine (UTM).
