To overcome the drawbacks of organic-solvent based I-/I3- electrolytes in hybrid solar cells (HSCs), the use of a solid-state redox mediator is necessary. As a redox mediator in HSCs, an ionic conductor, 1,3-dimethylimidazolium iodide (DMII), was applied in combination with additives. A HSC with the DMII and additives showed a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 1.83 % with the short-circuit current (Jsc) of 5.28 mA/cm2, the open-circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.602 V and the fill factor (FF) of 57.57 %. On the other hand, when a solid-state redox mediator composed of DMII, Co complex and additives was used in HSC, the PCE of the cell was increased to 2.77% (Jsc = 7.79 mA/cm2, Voc = 0.584 V, and FF = 60.83 %). A 1.5-times higher PCE was achieved by mixing of the MPII and the Co complex, due to a formation of triiodide by the reaction between the two components. |
