Zn2SiO4 with willemite structure reported an excellent quality factor (Q x f), 219,000GHz of microwave dielectric properties. However, it is very hard to obtain the stoichiometric Zn2SiO4 composition ceramics with single phase by the solid-state reaction method at various sintering conditions, which deteriorate the microwave dielectric properties of Zn2SiO4 ceramics, especially quality factor (Q x f). Therefore, non-stoichiometric composition of Zn2-ySiO4-y (0.00≤y≤0.30) was investigated to obtain Zn2SiO4 structure with single phase in this study. Also, dependence of microwave dielectric properties of Zn2SiO4 structure on Ni2+ ion substitution for Zn2+ ion of (Zn1-xNix)2-ySiO4-y (0.00≤x≤0.10, 0.00≤y≤0.30) composition was studied. The crystal structure of these substitution compositions with single phase was analyzed by RIR (Rietveld-refinement) method from XRD results, and the effects of structural characteristics on microwave dielectric properties of (Zn1-xNix)2-ySiO4-y (0.00≤x≤0.10, 0.00≤y≤0.30) ceramics. High quality factor (Q x f) of 265,800GHz was obtained for the specimens sintered at 1300℃ for 3h with (Zn0.95Ni0.05)1.8SiO3.8 composition. The relations between microstructure and microwave dielectric properties are also discussed. |
