제목 Depletion-Mediated Regioselective Growth of Colloidal Crystals on Micropatterned Nanoneedle Arrays
초록 Self-assembly of colloids results in well-designed colloidal crystals. Various patterning technologies, including photolithography, dip-coating, and ink-jet printing, have been developed for practical use. Such methods, however, generally require multi-steps and fundamentally have low resolution as the building blocks are pre-contained in composite materials. Here, we demonstrate a particle-level patterning of colloidal crystals by a single-step regioselective growth of colloids on a substrate with a dimple or nano-needle structures. In the presence of macromolecules, which serve as depletants, the attractive interaction of particles with a planar area is stronger than that with nano-needles and weaker than that with dimples. Thus, colloids spontaneously assemble in 2D-patterned areas with dimples or without nano-needle structures and grow further epitaxially. The patterning is visually observed by the structural colors. This novel method is a possible anti-counterfeiting technology.
