Porous carbon materials such as carbon black, ordered mesoporous carbon (OMC), colloidal silica templated porous carbon (CSC) have been widely applied to various application for supercapacitors, secondary battery electrode. This kind of carbons has good electrical conductivity, high surface area, and high pore volume. To investigate the eletrochemical effect of porous carbon materials, we controlled physical properties of CSCs. We synthesized colloidal silica templated porous carbons and regulated their properties by changing size and amount of colloidal silica to confirm the effects on the electrochemical performance in Li-S battery. In this battery, we expected the high surface area carbon can provide efficient physical confinement to trap the dissolvable polysulfides, diminishing the negative shuttle effect during cycling. The materials were characterized by N2 adsorption/desorption, scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Additionally, electrochemical investigation was performed. |
