제목 | Cathode Materials for High-Performance All-Solid-State Thin Film Battery |
초록 | Since the thin film batteries with crystalline LiCoO2 cathodes have been proposed by research group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, wide variety of investigations and applications were addressed by many others. The main application fields of thin film battery are directed to the specialized energy sources for the MEMS device, pacemaker, and military applications. Although their superior characteristics such as leakage free and little self-discharge, thin film battery has a limited application span because their extremely low specific capacity at high rate of discharge condition. The main challenge is, therefore, to develop all solid state thin film battery with high performances especially at fast charge and discharge condition. Glancing angle deposition (GLAD), sputtering at off-set position between target and substrate used to modulate the columnar growth direction of cathode materials. By decreasing the working pressure the inclination angle of cathode material columns was decreased and their resultant specific capacity at high rate of discharge condition was enhanced. Furthermore, by adding substrate rotation technique to the GLAD, we finally report the high-performance cathode thin films especially endurable to the fast discharging condition. By comparing with the conventional thin film, the developed cathode shows more than order magnitude higher capacity retention which is correspond to the value of adaptation to application. |
