제목 Structural and morphological changes of P(EN-ET) copolyesters during isothermal crystallization
초록 Poly(ethylene naphthalate) (PEN) is being used as a high-performance polymer having superior strength, heat stability and barrier properties. In spite of these excellent properties, high-melt viscosity of PEN causes problems associated with processing ability. The simplest solution to these problems would be blend or copolymerization of PEN and poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET).
In this study, structural and morphological changes of P(EN-ET) copolymers (Dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) content 2 ~ 10 %) that were isothermally crystallized at various temperatures were investigated using DSC, time-resolved SAXS and TEM. The rate of crystallization, crystallinity and melting temperature decreased with increasing DMT content, because the DMT segments in the molecular chains decrease the regularity of the main chain. Time-resolved SAXS results exhibited that long period of lamella stack increased with increasing the DMT content due to the decrease of the supercooling.
