제목 | CO2 Separation by Chabazite-Type Zeolite Membrane: It depends on Hydrophobicity and Defect Structure |
초록 | Chabazite (CHA)-type zeolites can separation CO2 from larger molecules, such as N2 (generated in postcombustion carbon capture) and CH4 (generated in natural gas/biogas upgrading). Specifically, because of the pore size of CHA zeolites (0.37 × 0.42 nm2) it can separate the slight size differences of mentioned molecules, CO2 (0.33 nm), N2 (0.364 nm) and CH4 (0.38 nm). In addition, the siliceous constituents in the CHA zeolites can decrease the H2O permeation rate by reducing the adsorption capacity for smaller H2O molecules (0.265 nm). This is good for ensuring desirable molecular sieving effect with CO2 permselectivity in the presence of H2O vapor. Indeed, a siliceous CHA film obtained with a Si/Al ratio of 100 (CHA_100) showed high CO2/N2 and CO2/CH4 separation performance in the presence of H2O vapor. Such improvements could be attributed to physisorbed water molecules which block defect in membranes. |
