In this study, rayon-based activated carbon fiber (ACF) was manufactured for effective adsorption and recovery of methylene chloride (MC), which causes environmental pollution and is a harmful volatile organic compound. The ACF was prepared through three steps: air stabilization, carbonization in the inner atmosphere, and activation in the steam atmosphere. The textural properties of the ACF prepared in different conditions were measured using N2/77K adsorption/desorption isotherms. The MC working capacity of the ACF was evaluated by modified ASTM D5228 standard. |
