A single sheet of paper based analytical device for quantitative and multiple assays |

Three-dimensional microfluidic paper-based analytical device (3D µPAD) can run fluid vertically and horizontally for quantitative and multiple assays. We demonstrate a new method to fabricate a single sheet of 3D µPAD by lamination in less than 40 sec. The method is based on printing and comprised of two steps: (1) Printing (2) Lamination (double-side heating). The three-dimensional channels including a docking wax-barrier and channels allow three-dimensional capillary flow in a single sheet of paper. Finally, we demonstrate a quantitative and multiple assays on a single sheet of 3D μPAD using retention factor. We assume that this rapid fabrication method for 3D μPAD for quantitative and multiple assays contributes to the establishment of zero-cost diagnostic system in developing countries. |
