With the development of wearables and embedded electronics, it is essential to develop a layer that can passivate the device. This barrier layer should have the characteristics of high stretchability while having excellent waterproof performance. Therefore, in this study, a stretchable water-proof barrier coating with excellent durability was developed. This coating is formed by alternately depositing a highly stretchable superhydrophobic copolymer frame and a cross-linked organosiloxane polymer through vapor phase chemical vapor deposition called iCVD. Since Icvd is a gas phase process, when the crosslinked organosiloxane is polymerized, it penetrates into the free-volume in the superhydrophobic elastomer to form an IPN region. Therefore, it has excellent water-proof performance without losing its stretchable properties. The film composed of a total of 5 layers showed excellent water-proof performance even at a tensile strain of 60%. |
