We present a simple and robust patterning process, named electrospinning lithography for direct generation of a patterned nanofibrous networks. Uniform-sized nanofibers were initially fabricated through electrospinning process, followed by uniformly electrospraying nanoparticles after placing PDMS mold produced by milled acrylic board, resulting in electrospinning lithography. We have successfully patterned various shapes, numbers and letters. The operation of electrospinning process is similar with that of the conventional lithography technique, the random motioned polymer jet enables selective deposition and collection of the electrospun fibers by through non-conductive barrier as a sacrificial layer on grounded collector, resulting in spatially controllable nanofibrous network with complex patterns. Thus, our method is easier and more versatile in fabricating composite nanofibrous networks and designing them into a pattern on a nanofiber surface. We believe that our findings may serve as an important guide to progress complex nanofibrous materials, especially the application of scaffold-like functional architectures for various biological and chemical engineering developments. |
