The enhanced absorption properties of super absorbent polymer using surface modified inorganic filler |
초록 |
Super absorbent polymers (SAPs) can absorb a large amount of water in swollen state in a short time and retain water under pressure. We studied the effects of montmorillonite (MMT) on the absorption behaviors of SAPs. As MMT is highly hydrophilic, so this property makes it poorly suited to mixing and interacting with most polymer matrices. For this reason, MMT must be surface-modified before it can be used to make a nanocomposite. The structures of the SAPs were characterized by FT-IR. We studied the water absorbency characteristics of the SAPs according to the content of inorganic filler by measuring free absorbency, centrifuge retention capacity, and absorbency under load. |
