A processing study of automotive Interior parts used TPO micro cellular foaming materials |

Recently, the trend of automotive interior parts is focused on improvement of light weight materials. Thermoplastic foams are materials that are composed of a cellular core structure created by the expansion of blowing agents of volatile gases or liquids, which can be economically used in insulating, packaging, and automobile industries. Some of the advantages of TPO over PVC/ABS skins are improved UV and heat aging, reduced fogging due to absence of plasticizer exudation, and recyclability. In This study, we try to find the relations between cell density and volume expansion ratio which are contents of blowing agent, nucleation agent and die temperature. We checked possibility of HMS-PP foam and it can replace PU foam sheet using commercial vehicle. The experiment results showed that cell density of HMS-PP decreased and expansion ratio increased with increasing blowing agent. and then finally we can make TPO laminated sheet. |
