Enhancement of barrier properties for PES substrate by plasma treatment followed by silane-nanoclay composite coatings |

Formation of silane-nanocaly composite hybrid multilayer on the plasma treated plastic substrate was investigated to enhance the barrier properties to water vapor and oxygen transport. Deposition of inorganic layer on the substrate was performed by plasma treatment with HMDSN and Ar, O2 in conventional plasma CVD apparatus. Silane-nanocaly composite layer was fabricated by curing the organosilane-organoclay mixture through hydrogen bonding with SiOxNy. Chemical characterization of deposition layer was performed by using FT-IR, XPS and surface morphology was characterized by AFM. Adhesion stability of the layer to substrate was examined by tape-pull test. Optical characterization of organic-inorganic multilayer was performed in terms of tranmittance and refractive index. The multilayer deposited on PES substrate was found be effective for the enhancement of the barrier property for flexible display application without any performance degradation. |
