Elastomers were used to essential materials in wide area about architecture, automobile, high-tech medical material, etc. Although increases the amount of elastic materials and components, a used rubber had reduced to fuel however only for a fraction has been applied. In order to improve recycling of elastomers since the 1970s, a variety of thermoplastic elastomer has been developed. Specific mechanical property of TPE has high stress value at area of low strain compared with commercial rubbers. This study, styrene-butadiene rubber with functional group for self-assembly elastomer has introduced benzyl methacrylate via emulsion polymerization. Hydrolysis of benzyl ester carboxylate has introduced carboxylic acid. Hydrolysis was that rubber was dissolved in the mixed solvent (THF, methanol), and added sodium hydroxide to this solution at 50 ℃ and stirred. Polymers were characterized by 1H NMR and FT-IR. Mechanical properties were measured 100%, 300% modulus, tensile strength by UTM. |
