제목 Direct growth of protective layer Li2Se on lithium metal anode for all solid-state batteries
초록 Lithium metal is considered to be the promising anode material for rechargeable batteries due to its high theoretical capacity. Recently all solid-state batteries based on sulfide-based electrolytes is emerging as next-generation batteries, and there is an effort to introduce lithium metal. However, such devices suffer from undesirable side reactions at interface bwtween electrode mateirals and the electrolyte. Here we report an epitxial growth of protective layer Li2Se on Li metal by chemical vapor deposition. By manipulating deposition time and cooling rate, nanostructured Li2Se are grown such as nanoparticles, nanorods, and nanowalls with a dominant (220) plane on the (110) plane of the Li metal. After uniaxial press, dense Li2Se layers enable a strong chemical bond to a surface of Li metal and a uniform physical contact to a Li6PS5C sulfide electrolyte. They prevents unfavorable side reactions, resulting in a uniform charge transfer at the interface upon cycling. As a result, a full cell based on a LiCoO2 cathode and the Li2Se/Li metal anode shows improved electrochemical properties and demonstrates a potential use of the Li metal anode with a protective layers for all solid-state batteries.
