제목 The conditioned surface structure of activated carbon fibers by electron beam treatment for electric double layer capacitor
초록 In this study, activated carbon fibers (ACFs) were fabricated and electron beam (E-beam) treated at various irradiation doses to enhance electrochemical properties of the ACFs for use as electric double layer capacitor electrodes. Defects of the ACF surface were decreased and C-C (sp2) bonds onto that were increased after the E-beam treatment. The specific surface area and pore volume of the E-beam treated ACFs were also increased up to 33 and 21%, respectively, compared with the untreated ACFs. The changes of the surface structure of ACFs were due to formation of defects and rehybridization of carbon atoms by E-beam treatment. The specific capacitance of the ACFs treated with the E-beam at irradiation doses of 200 kGy increased by 40 % compared with the untreated ACFs. The enhancement of the electrochemical properties in E-beam treated ACFs contributed to the increase in the specific surface area and pore volume.
