제목 SYNTHESIS AND SOL-GEL TRANSITION BEHAVIOR OF THE REVERSED TEMPERATURE- SENSITIVE STAR-SHAPED BLOCK COPOLYMER
초록 Abstract

Stimuli-sensitive polymers which show a sharp response to environmental small stimuli such as temperature, pH, light, composition, and electric current have been investigated by many researchers. Aqueous solution of biodegradable polyethylene glycol-poly(DL-lactic acid-co-glycolic acid)-polyethylene glycol(PEG-PLGA-PEG) triblock copolymer has been studied as a drug delivery system because it shows sol-gel-sol transition behavior as the temperature increased and it has biodegradability.
In our previous work, we developed biodegradable temperature-sensitive star-shaped 4arm PLGA-PEG block copolymers to investigate the effect of architecture on the gelation and micellization properties. But, these polymers formed gels at high concentration (~25 wt%).
So, we synthesized biodegradable star shaped 4arm PEG-PLGA block copolymers with the reversed structure. 4arm PEG-PLGA block copolymer was synthesized by bulk ring opening polymerization of DL-lactide and glycolide with 4arm PEG as a multi-functional initiator and Sn(oct)2 as a catalyst. The resulting copolymers were confirmed by NMR and GPC. In concentrated aqueous solution, they also showed sol-gel transition behavior and formed gel at lower concentration than 4arm PLGA-PEG.
