Simple control method of gas separation performance by copolymerization of functionalized moieties |

Development of thermally, chemically resistant polymeric materials with long-term stability has been requested in order to commercialize. Recently, super glassy polymers have been focused due to excellent gas permeation performance. However, these polymers showed extremely low gas selectivity with physical aging problem during short-term operation. In this research, copolymer was successfully synthesized composed of high permeable polybenzoxazole rendered by thermal rearrangement mechanism and highly selective polyimide. Gas permeation performance of these copolymers was characterized for various small gas molecules which is controllable according to the ratio of permeable and selective sites. Also thermal stability and microscopic characteristics were investigated by adapting several analysis techniques such as TGA-ms, X-ray diffraction, and BET adsorption experiment. |
