Due to increasing usage of fossil fuels, increased carbon dioxide in air has caused global warming. To solve the problem, CO2 conversions have much attention. Dry reforming of methane (DRM) has much attention due to its consumption of two green house gases simultaneously. During DRM reaction, carbon deposition, which deactivates the catalysts, can occur easily. Thus, carbon deposition is the most serious problem. In usually, precious metals have been known as highly coke resistant metals. However, due to their high price, usage of small amount is very important. Here, we developed that the small amount of Ru is used for synthesis of the catalyst with zirconia and silica. When Ru is supported with zirconia-silica, it shows highly active and durable property. In addition, the particle size of Ru is decreased to 1.3nm when Ru is supported with zirconia-silica. From TPR and XANES measurement, we found strong metal support interaction (SMSI) between Ru and zirconia. The carbon deposition of Ru/ZrO2-SiO2 was not confirmed after DRM reaction. Thus, Ru/ZrO2-SiO2 shows highly active and durable property with only 0.13 wt% of Ru content. |
