Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been of great interest over the past decade because of their unique properties and potential applications such as biochemical sensors. For such applications, the chemical modification of CNTs with specific functionality is required. In particular, the functionalization of CNTs with fluorophores represents an emerging strategy in the development of nanoscale photoactive sensor. In this study, water-soluble CNT attached with fluorescent pH-sensitive polymer is synthesized for application of biosensor, where CNT acts as a quencher for fluorescence and polysulfadimethoxine is a pH sensitive polymer, to which pyrene dye is attached. The optical change of CNT-polymer-fluorophore complex is measured as a function of pH to examine the potential application for pH sensor. |
