제목 | Indomethacin Release of Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) Hydrogels Containing Poly(ethylene glycol) |
초록 | The inherent ability of hydrogels to display dramatic changes in properties in response to external stimuli rendered them useful for many biomedical application. Hydrogels were three-dimensional networks which would swell in water of aqueous solution.1,2 In this study, the N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm) containing poly(ethylene gylcol) (PEG) hydrogel was prepared by radical-induced polymerization using tetraethylene- glycoldiacrylate as the crosslinker. NIPAAm/PEG hydrogels were investigated in swelling feature, phase transition, and degree of crosslinking. The release behaviors of drug were also measured in the phosphate buffer solution. As a result, hydrogel retained the good optical transparency at room temperature, but hydrogel shown the opaque state and shrinking with the phase transition above 37 ℃. It was noted that hydrogel shown the phase transition by temperature responsibility. Fig. 1 shown the morphology of hydrogels containing PEG having different concentrations after freeze-drying. The pure NIPAAm exhibited an interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) structure. IPN structure and degree of crosslinking were decreased with an addition of PEG of high concentration. And the maximum swelling capacity was also decreased with increasing the concentration of PEG, due to the interruption of crosslinking reaction of hydrogel by an addition of PEG. Indomethacin was chosen as the model drug for examining release from the hydrogel. From the releas profile, an improved controlled release could be achieved by the IPN-hydrogels. Fig. 1.
