Fibrous Electrospun PVA fibers Reinforced with Nanocellulose for Blood Vessel Engineering |
초록 |
Substantial amount of research has been done regarding the use of nano cellulose in the field of biomaterials and tissue engineering. However these studies mainly concentrate on the bacterial cellulose. Several studies have indicated that incorporation of nano cellulose into polymers, either through grafting or composite incorporation, significantly increases the resulting material’s mechanical property. This study aims to investigate the potential of electrospun PVA fibers reinforced with nano cellulose as a scaffold for blood vessel tissue engineering. Material characterization and biocompatibility of resulting electrospun nano cellulose polymer composites was conducted using appropriate methods of observation and evaluation. Several formulations will be tested for in creating the eslectrospin composite. Fiber diameter and morphology was observed using SEM microscopy. Contact angle, burst and tensile strength test was used to determine hydrophilicity and material strength. Cytocompatibility with rabbit bone marrow stem cell was also assessed through MTT assay and confocal microscopy. Hemocompatibility was also determined through testing coagulation time, platelet adhesion and hemolysis testing. |
