제목 | Reaction kinetics and morphological changes at polymer-polymer interface |
초록 | The reaction kinetics and interfacial roughness are important to characterize the interface between two immiscible blends with a reactive compatibilizer. However, a few studies on reaction kinetics and interfacial roughness are available. In this study, we interpret the reaction kinetics by correlating interfacial roughness with rheological properties. A blend system (PS-mCOOH/PMMA-GMA) was used to prepare two plates of each polymer by compression molding on silicon wafer for smooth surface. Rheological properties were obtained from the two plates welding together in rheometer at different temperatures. The modulus change showed three different stages in reaction kinetics. The interface of each stage was investigated with AFM and TEM. From our results, the three stages are considered to have reaction-controlled stage, interface broadening, and micelle formation stage.
