Hydrogels have attracted much scientific interest and have been used in many applications such as sensors, adsorbents, and materials in pharmacy. We focus on increasing the mechanical strength of hydrogels to use the active chain to stretch between nano-particles. This hydrogels have a novel, pure network structure and high mechanical strength. For investigating mechanical properties, we use universal testing machine (UTM). UTM data show that the hydrogels have a good mechanical property and completely recover their original shape after compression is removed. To control the mechanical properties of hydrogels, we change the monomer, Acrylic acid only, to Methacrylic acid and Acrylic acid mixtures. Also, we check out swelling effect of hydrogels using the fluorescence dye for the application of drug delivery system. The hydrogels are swollen in basic condition due to the interaction between hydrogel and hydroxide ions. |
