The swelling behavior and mechanical properties of poly(vinyl alcohol)/poly(ethylene oxide) hydrogels by γ-ray irradiation followed by annealing |
초록 |
Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) hydrogels have been considered as very interesting and amusing materials for biomedical and pharmaceutical applications due to their excellent viscoelasticity, biocompatibility and hydrophilicity. In this study, PVA and Poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) hydrogels were prepared by gamma-ray irradiation followed by annealing method. The gamma-irradiated PVA/PEO hydrogels as a function of annealing time were characterized by gel fraction, degree of swelling and mechanical properties. These results showed that the annealing was a very effective method for the crosslinking and formation of hydrogels and enhancing their mechanical strength. |
