Electrochromism is a phenomenon which involves persistent and reversible change of color in electrochromic (EC) material by simultaneous ion (H+, Li+, Na+, etc.) and electron injection / extraction. Amongst all electrochromic materials, transition metal oxides (TMOs) such as NiO has promising features including high coloring efficiency (CE), good cycling reversibility and cost effectiveness. However, slow switching speed and low color contrast severely limit its commercialization in current NiO electrochromic films. In this research, we fabricated the nanostructured NiO thin film electrodeposited from ionic liquid to improve the performance by controlling morphology and surface area of electrodeposited thin film. |
