We developed poly(arylene ether sulfone) (PES) containing pendant imidazole group both as crosslinker and hydroxide conductor. In this context, we prepared pendant imidazolium groups with long alkyl chain. The long alkyl chains were responsible for self-aggregation (SA) and developed high ionic domains. The obtained membranes were transparent, flexible and soluble in polar organic solvents. The SA-PES membranes revealed conductivity over 0.03 S/cm at rt and 0.1 (80 °C) at low IEC. Additional details like, synthesis, dimensional, thermal and alkaline stability will be discussed. |
