Synthesis and shape control of nanostructured semiconductors have been widely interested due to their optical, electrical, and biological applications. So far, the fabrications have relied on case-by-case approaches. This presentation will discuss the use of cation-exchange from pre-existing nanostructures to easily diversify the nanostructured semiconductors. The derivatives will include superparamagnetic semiconductor colloids, core-shell particles, hollow structures, nanowires, and nanotubes. I will also discuss the photonic band gap properties of 3D opaline lattices by the semiconductor colloids. |
