Angle- and Strain-Independent Free-Standing Structural Color Films Based on Colloidal Photonic Crystals |
초록 |
Structural colors based on colloidal photonic crystals (CPCs) are very useful in a variety of photonic applications because of the simplicity of tuning the photonic properties of these structures. It is extremely useful to generate flexible structural color that maintains its color regardless of viewing angle and mechanical deformations. It is challenging to simultaneously achieve these goals because anisotropy in CPC structures tend to lead to angle-dependent photonic properties and also changes in the lattice constant due to mechanical deformation leads to changes in the diffraction properties of CPCs. To overcome these challenges, we present a means of fabricating large-area free-standing films of CPC that exhibit angle- and strain-independent characteristics using a microfluidic device. The shape and crystallinity of CPC supraparticles can be tuned by osmotic annealing. Subsequently, CPC supraparticles are embedded inside an elastomeric matrix to form a flexible free-standing film. |
