Synthesis and Characterization of Highly Porous NiCo@CNT Catalysts for Bifunctional Electrode on Anion Exchange Membrane-Unitized Regenerative Fuel Cells |

Regenerative fuel cells can take place in the position of fossil fuel as an alternative. Metal-organic framework (MOF) derived catalysts can take the place of noble metal (Pt or Ir) catalysts of the anion exchange membrane–unitized regenerative fuel cells (AEM-URFCs) due to their high surface area, high energy density, low cost and environment-friendliness. Meanwhile, ZIF-67 a highly porous zeolite type MOF has been consciously chosen as a precursor, because of its facile form Ni/Co nanoparticles. In this study, a highly porous Ni/Co on carbon nanotube (NiCo@CNT) with a large surface area was synthesized from ZIF-67 containing Ni and Co. The physicochemical characteristics of the synthesized martials has been studied by the following characterization tools-SEM, XRD, TEM, EDS, BET, and XPS. The stable dodecahedral structure of the NiCo-ZIF-67 retain even after pyrolysis can be the key factor for excellent electrochemical activity. |
