제목 The synthesis of polyethylenimine(PEI)-SiO2 nanoparticles for Cr(VI) adsorption
초록  Cromium compounds are commonly used in a variety of products encountered in our daily life. However, hexavalent chromium is very toxic causing health damages. Among the various adsorbents for Cr(VI), such as activated carbons, zeolites, clays and so on, In this research, our silica sorbents were prepared in simply one-step synthesis method and their adsorption properties were characterized. According to our results, concentration of tetraethyl orthosilicate(TEOS) and polyethylenimine(PEI) affects particle size and shape (solid/hollow). Also, amine groups are uniformly dispersed in the silica structure. More importantly, PEI leaching is prevented by fixation of silica. The PEI-silica nano-composites exhibited Cr(VI) adsorption capacity  of 198.82 mg/g. It is thought that electrostatic force between protonated amines and Cr ions facilitates adsorption process ending up with excellent performance.
