Enhancing n-type thermoelectric performance of Bi2Te3 via inclusion of K2Sex (x = 1 - 6) |

Thermoelectric (TE) technology is important for renewable power generation by recovering waste heat. Bi2Te3 is the representative TE materials operating near room temperature. Its n-type materials show much inferior performance to the p-type counterpart. In this presentation, we report new high-performance n-type Bi2Te3 thermoelectric systems via inclusion of K2Sex (x =1 - 6). This substantially suppresses thermal conductivity to ~0.86 W·m-1·K-1 at 420 K with the minimal deterioration in power factor. Consequently, a high peak TE figure of merit ZT~1.12 at 420 K is achieved for Bi2Te3-10 % K2Se6. |
