Quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) sensor which was coated by molecular imprinted polymer (MIP) was employed as a monitering system for VOCs gas. The MIP-QCM sensor was designed for enhance the sensor sensitivity and selectivity. The MIP film, which formed specific cavities originated by target molecules, was prepared using methacrylic acid (MAA). The coated surface was investigated by using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and atomic force microscope (AFM). The frequency variation by VOCs adsorption was measured and discussed with the results of microscopic observations. Using the adsorption and desorption responses, the reproducibility and sensitivity were explained. The results showed the possibility for commercial applicability of the prepared polymer coated QCM sensors. |
