제목 Anisotropic Dewettingon Rice Leaf-like Wavy Surfaces
초록 In plants, it is well known that a water droplet can roll freely in all direction on the surface of a lotus leaf. However we have found an anisotropic dewetting property on the surface of a rice leaf(Oryza sativa). It is considered that the water droplets can roll off easily along the parallel to the leaf edge. For a rice leaf, It has also micropapillae and nanostructures of waxes similar to those of the lotus leaf. But the rice has chlorenchyma cells more compactly arranged and the mesophyll adaxial surface is very wavy. These anisotropic microstructures led to the anisotropic dewetting properties. To mimic this phenomenon, we prepared a rice leaf-like wavy surface by controlling the surface roughness using the LBL assembly on the micro-wrinkled PDMS substrate. The anisotropic dewetting phenomenon was also observed on such a film.
