Dye-sensitized solar cells were fabricated with free-standing TiO2 nanotube arrays, (one is closed-ended and the other is open-ended TiO2 nanotube arrays) that were doped with carbon materials by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) to improve the electron transport for energy conversion efficiency. Compared to DSSCs based on TiO2 nanotube arrays with/without carbon materials, energy conversion efficiency with a small amount of carbon materials was increased from 5.07% to 6.21%, which is an enhancement of 22.4%. This result suggests that carbon materials contained with p-p conjugation improve the electron transport more efficient. However, energy conversion efficiency of DSSCs with a large amount of carbon materials on TiO2 nanotube arrays was decreased from 5.07% to 2.87% with decreasing Jsc, Voc, and ff because of the less amount of dye adsorption on TiO2 nanotube arrays. |
