New crosslinkable polyethylene oxide-polypropylene oxide-polyethylene oxide triblock copolymers/carboxymethyl cellulose (cPT/CMC) was prepared and utilized as water-soluble binder for the fabrication of high performance carbon electrodes in non-aqueous supercapacitors. Due to the presence of polyethylene oxide segments with high affinity for non-aqueous electrolytes, the cPT/CMC binder presented excellent ionic conductivities over 10^-4 S/cm both in organic electrolyte and ionic liquid. Moreover, the binder system with hydrophilic-hydrophobic block copolymer structure could act as an effective dispersion agent to suppress the agglomeration of carbon materials. Consequently, the non-aqueous supercapacitor based on activated carbon and our binder system exhibited good electrochemical performances with high areal capacitance, exceptional rate capability, and good cycling stability. |
