제목 Pectin microgel formation via photopolymerization for macrophage-targeted delivery
초록 Macrophage is an important target cell in immunotherapy, because it plays a crucial role in not only systemic immune response, but cancer development. In particular, macrophage polarization in tumor microenvironment is a key factor to govern tumor suppression as well as progression. To form a carrier for macrophage targeting, we fabricated microgels using pectin extracted from the root bark of Ulmus davidiana var. japonica (UDP). We modified UDP with methacrylic anhydride for photo-crosslinking and microgel was formed in a simple method via mechanical crushing of pectin hydrogel using homogenizer. The microgel was internalized by THP-1 derived macrophages and upregulated M1 polarization markers. These findings suggest that UDP microgel is a candidate in macrophage regulation.
