제목 Wine-inspired Synthesis of PEI-coated Gold Nanoparticles for siRNA Delivery
초록 Controlled synthesis of metallic nanoparticles has been vigorously studied for applications in optics, nano-electronics, catalysis, and nano-therapeutics, since their optoelectronic and physicochemical properties are strongly dependent on their size and shape. Here, we report novel biological synthesis of gold nano-structures using red wine. We found that the phenolic compounds (polyphenols and monomeric flavonoids) in red wines are responsible for the reduction and shape-determination of gold nano-structures. We demonstrated the synthesis of various size of gold nano-spheres using polyphenol-mimetic polymer conjugate (polyethyleneimine-g-catechol (PEI-C)). We found that the size of gold nanoparticle was tunable (18 nm - 56 nm) by controlling degree of substitution of catechols on the primary amines of PEI. PEI-C had strong binding affinity onto gold nanoparticles, showing high potential as a siRNA delivery carrier.
