Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) synthesized from a single precursor has excellent bio-compatibility, unlike heavy metals quantum dots. Near-infrared (NIR) light fluorescent probe is suitable for bio-imaging field as it is capable of deep tissue penetration and has excellent light emission efficiency unlike bio-imaging and absorption wavelength. We prepared bio-compatible NIR CQDs using eco-friendly method with solvothermal synthesis from a single precursor of chlorophyll extracted from leaves. The optical properties, functional group studies and morphological analysis of the CQDs were investigated through UV-Visible spectroscopy, Photoluminescence, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, and Transmission electron microscope. The NIR CQDs with high emission efficiency with fluorescence of wavelengths close to 700 nm was obtained. To determine suitability for in vivo anatomical imaging, the synthesized NIR QDs was used in zebra fish larvae imaging. |
