Organic photovoltaics (OPVs) have been widely studied as they hold advantages like easy fabrication, flexibility and low cost. We designed and synthesized two novel conjugated polymers, PTTIF and PTTIFF, containing TTI and fluorinated DTBT with side chains. After the application of the polymers to OPVs, the photovoltaic characteristics were investigated. The optical band gaps from UV-Vis absorption onset of PTTIF and PTTIFF were 1.64 eV and 1.68 eV, respectively. The HOMO energy levels of two polymers were at -5.64 eV and -5.65 eV, their LUMO energy levels were at -4.06 eV and -4.07 eV. The device comprising PTTIF and PC71BM (1:2) with DIO showed a VOC of 0.72 V, a JSC of 8.94 mA/cm2, and a fill factor (FF) of 0.31, giving a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 2.26%. The device comprising PTTIFF and PC71BM (1:2) showed a VOC of 0.76 V, a JSC of 9.56 mA/cm2, and a FF of 0.37, giving a PCE of 2.71%. |
