Pickering emulsion polymerized poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate)/polystyrene composite particles and their electric-stimuli response |

Pickering emulsion polymerized facile synthesis of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate)/polystyrene (PEDOT:PSS/PS) composite particles and their electrorheological application were reported, in which PEDOT:PSS/PS composite was fabricated by using PEDOT:PSS as solid surfactant. Morphology of PEDOT:PSS/PS was observed by using scanning electron microscopy and chemical structure of the composite was identified by using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Thermal properties of the composite were observed by thermogravimetric analysis. Formation of chain structure was observed by using optical microscopy. Furthermore, rheological properties of the composite particles dispersed in silicone oil with particle concentration of 10 vol% under the electric field were investigated by using a rotational rheometer. With showing typical Bingham-fluid behavior, the PEDOT:PSS/PS based ER fluid exhibited distinctive ER effect. |
